Nuisance Wildlife Removal

At Southern Habitat Consulting LLC, wildlife removal is the only hands-on service we provide, and we approach it with professionalism, scientific rigor, and a commitment to ethical practices. We are a licensed Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator (NWCO) in the state of Alabama, authorized to manage and remove nuisance species that pose threats to land, water, infrastructure, or wildlife habitat.

This service is offered not as a revenue driver, but as a necessary tool within a broader, science-based management framework. Our goal is to help landowners restore balance to their property by removing problematic species only when such action supports larger habitat and population goals.

Science-Based Predator Control

We are adamant that predator removal only be conducted when supported by research, with a specific emphasis on timing and habitat context. For example, trapping nest predators like raccoons and opossums can significantly improve reproductive success for species like the eastern wild turkey—but only if timed just prior to the nesting and clutch-rearing period. Removal efforts outside these windows often yield little long-term benefit.

Wildlife Removal Services Include:

  • Predator Control: Removal of nest predators (raccoons, opossums, coyotes, bobcats) using targeted, seasonal trapping efforts.

  • Otter Removal: Mitigating fish predation in stocked lakes to support recreational fishing success.

  • Nutria Removal: Addressing erosion and levee damage caused by nutria in pond and wetland systems.

  • Beaver Removal: Breaking and monitoring dam sites in culverts, ditches, or ponds to restore water flow and reduce flooding risks.

  • Feral Pig Trapping: Year-round trapping and removal of feral hogs, using corral or drop-gate systems. These efforts aim to prevent habitat degradation, crop damage, and competition with native species.

All removal practices are conducted using humane, effective, and legal methods. Our role is to apply ecological understanding to ensure that interventions produce measurable, long-term results—not short-term appearances of success.

At Southern Habitat Consulting LLC, we are committed to working for the landowner and the landowner alone, using wildlife removal only as a strategic tool to protect your investment and help you achieve your property goals.
